How the magic started

From the start of my career, I have been fascinated by how people achieve the extraordinary. At Mars Inc., I designed assessments to capture the knowledge and skills that kept millions of chocolate bars flowing from the production lines. That early experience sparked my lifelong passion for excellence.

My love for training took root at teacher training college and deepened through my studies in Educational Science and Technology, combined with a strong foundation in statistics. These tools showed me how precise evaluation can turn training into a strategic force for change.

Over the years, I worked with leading evaluation experts like Donald and Jim Kirkpatrick, Jack and Patty Phillips, and Robert Brinkerhoff. I gave workshops around the world and spoke at international conferences. Through these experiences, I discovered something essential. The endless effort to prove that training works holds us back.

Our research revealed a tough truth. Despite all the time, energy, and good intentions, only a small proportion of participants manage to turn learning into better daily performance. Rather than dwell on disappointment, we chose a different path. We searched for insight, for the hidden sparks where training truly made a difference. It takes curiosity, precision, and good science, but it opens the way to real growth and real impact.
